How boids work

Separation

Nearby boids push away from each other to avoid collisions. Increasing this creates wider spacing and more nervous motion.

Alignment

Boids steer toward the average heading of their neighbors. This creates synchronized flock direction and smooth flow.

Cohesion

Boids steer toward the average position of their neighbors. This keeps the group together without needing a central leader.
